Now we're cooking
I've only recently started using a laptop all day every day, so I thought it was time to put to use a trick shown to me by some buddies for making the all-day laptop experience a lot more ergonomic. So a quick trip to the homewares store for a cook book stand, and bingo! You've got the screen at eye level. Check out the picture for an idea of how it works. You need to invest in an external keyboard and mouse, of course, but it's the poor man's docking station. Start a fashion trend in your cube farm today!

Ha! A cookbook stand. Awesome idea. I've seen a few stands simliar to this, but they looked more like bookshelve stands as well.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, a sturdy bookstand does the job as well.
ReplyDeleteBut what's this James? Where's the Powerbook?!
I've always liked to use the lappy as a "mobile CPU and hard-drive". So I have a 19" LCD monitor, that when I get to work, just plug in the lappy, plug in the wireless KB and mouse, and the LAN cable.
ReplyDeleteI do like the cookbook stand idea - rather cool.
Sitting at a desk, I'd rather a "real" monitor than the lappy screen.
Matt, the powerbook was just to stage right of this picture! No stand for it, though, as using a mac could never cause pain....!
